Edison Project 3

In Edison Project 3, we are going to study about one of my most favorite subjects, magnetism!

Edison Project 3 will be the best project yet!

Objectives include:

  1. Learn to use the Greek letter to represent negative powers of ten.

  2. Increase understanding of symbols used to represent engineering notation as a kind of a secret code.

  3. Dig deep into everyday terms used in electronics such as current, voltage, power, resistance, capacitance, inductance and frequency.

  4. Understand how DC affects a speaker

  5. Explore magnetism and electromagnetism

  6. Build a circuit that functions very much like an electronic flash control system in a camera

  7. Learn about transistor driver circuits and microprocessors (the brain of a computer).

  8. Use a transistor driver circuit to accomplish a task

Believe it or not, all these exciting objectives are covered in the first week of class!

Other Topics Include:

The difference between a short and an open

Troubleshooting circuits, what is it and how is it done?

Forming and testing a hypothesis

Series strings and parallel banks

Potentiometers and how to use them

RC time constants and how they are used every day around us

Using a motor as a generator

much more......
